The Oscars – Not So Much…

It’s bad enough that Mickey Rourke got robbed, so did M.I.A (as reported by Pitchfork). This is no big surprise though… Musically (with some notable exceptions including Elliott Smith for Good Will Hunting, and Swell Season for Once), the Oscars have a history of overlooking some of the best known indie acts, and this year is no exception. In particular, Regina Spektor’s The Call, an original song that she wrote for that Narnia film. So, to praise the musicians who have never got their chance at the Oscar, here is a list of some of my favourite songs which were overlooked:

MP3:>> Regina Spektor – The Call (written for that Narnia movie 2008)

MP3:>> Eddie Vedder – Society (written for Into the Wild 2007)

MP3:>> Iron & Wine – The Trapeze Swinger (written for In Good Company 2004)
