Tour Update: From San Fran
Hello all!
So sorry that we’ve neglected to update this here blog – we’ve spent most of the past weekend at the Outside Lands Festival, where we had no wireless access, and we’ve barely had a moment to stand still. We’ve just been too busy - meeting tons of great people, seeing some of our favourite bands, eating lots of amazing food, and spreading the good word about Mr. Yellow Bird. Here’s a quick re-cap of the events thus far:
We landed in San Francisco on Thursday evening, where both halves of YBP became one solitary unit. We drove to the Outside Lands Festival grounds to bag our vendor passes, and then headed straight to ‘The Mission’ district to have dinner and spend the evening with our friends at Chronicle Books, toasting to success of our Indie Rock Coloring Book.

Along the way we enjoyed some epic Mexican food. Mmmmmm.
Friday night we had our first official Indie Rock Coloring Book launch party, at the Medicine Agency. It was a super fun event, with great music, and LOTS of coloring! Thanks to John and Rama at Medicine for setting it up, and to Sean Desmond for taking such great pictures, some of which you can see below.

Whoaaaaaa! Colouring!!!
For three days straight we had a vendor booth set up at the Outside Lands Festival. We were situated right next to the Solar Panel Stage, which meant that we were able to see bands like Bat For Lashes close up. We met hundreds of nice people including the kind folks from ‘EcoMom‘, who were stationed in the tent next to us.
When we were not selling t-shirts and hoodies, we did also manage to slip away to catch a few big acts. Highlights included: a ridiculous set from Band Of Horses on the closing day, The National’s Matt Berninger killing a bug ‘on his nose’, and then dedicating the next song to that bug, and Conor Oberst’s cover of Rilo Kiley’s ‘Portions for Foxes’, with a special appearance from Jenny Lewis. Overall, we killed it in San Fran, and we had a great time. Below are some pics from the Outside Lands.
