There is no leaving… New York.
Hello Yellow Birds,
New York City was short, but sweet. Pretty much as sweet as it gets. Our concert with Elvis Perkins and Ra Ra Riot at the Housing Works Bookstore went down an absolute storm - it sold out and Elvis really brought the house down. Elvis Perkins, pictured below is wearing our YBP merch tee.
Thanks to Ra Ra Riot’s DJing, people were free to hang the venue both before and after Elvis performed his solo acoustic performance. Wes and Milo from Ra Ra Riot pictured below. Milo is wearing a Bon Iver YBP tee, and Wes is wearing a Ra Ra Riot YBP tee, which is being released in October. Stay tuned for that…
Elvis played some of the classics, some from his latest LP, and also some brand new ones from his soon to be released EP. He spoke about our t-shirts, and our coloring book, and for his last song, he said ‘this is my contribution to the coloring book’ before proceeding into an alternate acoustic version of ‘Shampoo’, with the familiar lyrics ‘yellow is the color of a strangled rainbow’.
Thank you all for coming out! A special thanks also out to Elizabeth Weinberg, who was our official photographer for the evening. See more of her pictures in our gallery by clicking here.
We’re just about to head off to the Drawn & Quarterly bookstore, for part III of our Indie Rock Coloring Book Tour. Murray Lightburn, from The Dears will be performing a solo acoustic session. If you’re around in Montreal, come join! Announcement below is from the Montreal Gazette.
