We’ve got some news for you…

Group Mailer Crop

You may have noticed that things have been a little quiet on the YBP front. That’s because we’ve been busy, busy, busy. Busy behind the scenes planning some exciting changes to our humble organisation.

Which brings us to this important announcement…

After nearly 10 years of running YBP on a part-time, volunteer basis, the two of us are stepping down and handing over the reins to the good people at Trekstock, who have agreed to take over the operation so the brand can live on for many years to come!

Trekstock is a registered charity that raises vital funds for young adults living with cancer. We encourage you all to check out their website to see what kind of amazing work they’ve been doing. They’ve got a growing team with 6 full-time employees (plus an office dog, Serge) and a whole lotta passion.

With their resources and expertise in fundraising through music collaborations, they’ll be able to make more of a difference than we ever could on our own. We’ve been working closely with Sophie & Giles from Trekstock on getting everything underway!

As you might have guessed, since they are a charity, they’re not able to raise money for other charities, which means that all of YBP’s fundraising efforts will now be consolidated with Trekstock as the sole beneficiary. All of the bands have been made aware of this change and have been so super supportive! Together, we’re going to help change the game for young adults living with cancer.

We are thrilled about this opportunity to take YBP to the next level and grateful to have Trekstock on board as our successors. This change will take place effective immediately, so to kick things off…

The Yellow Bird Project presents a fresh batch of re-printed favourites, including Amanda Palmer, Beach House, Bon IverCHVRCHES, Daughter, John Grant and TV on the Radio in all sizes. Plus, four brand new exciting tees from from Warpaint, Metronomy, Local Natives and Purity Ring and plenty more on their way this year… The YBP store is open, so come check out the new range!

We should mention that this change will in no way affect our film,
A MATTER OF TIME, which is coming soon to a theatre near you.

Thank you for your continued support, for enabling our dream and playing a crucial role in the building of a brand that’s been fighting the good fight since its inception in 2006. We all look forward to growing the YBP community together.

Long live the bird!
Casey & Matt

New t-shirt from John Grant

It is our privilege to announce the newest addition to the YBP t-shirt family, from the one and only John Grant.

The t-shirt, designed by Toby Triumph, bears an illustrated portrait of John himself, holding an owl with the phrase: ALL BETS ARE OFF written underneath.

The aforementioned phrase is a lyric from the chorus of his new single, ‘Grey Tickles, Black Pressure‘, where he sings: “There are children who have cancer… so all bets are off.”

Proceeds from this tee will benefit the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – a facility that has literally changed the way the world treats children with cancer and other diseases.

T-shirt available here.

We’ve Got a Record Deal!

Hey hey,

We have amazing excitement in our bones, so we’re here to share. Our long awaited covers album, GOOD PEOPLE ROCK, is now officially being released on April 14th by Dan Mangan’s boutique label, Madic Records (part of the Arts & Crafts family). You can pre-order the album today in vinyl and digital download formats (we recommend the vinyl, but hey – it’s up to you!). Check it out here.

GOOD PEOPLE ROCK is a collaborative album like no other. Covers of YBP artists mixed and recorded by other YBP artists, including Andrew Bird, Alec Ounsworth (of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah), Dan Mangan, Elvis Perkins, Hayden, Micah P. Hinson, Keaton Henson, King Creosote and more.  It really is as good as it sounds. Until you hear it, then it’s infinities times better. Give it a spin.

New “Shark Week” tee from CHVRCHES

Check out our latest t-shirt design from CHVRCHES. Here’s the story, according to the band, of how this tee came to be:

The idea for this design is an easy one to explain. In the early days of the band… we came up with the hare-brained idea that we were going to play a few warm-up shows under a pseudonym… “Shark Week”. In the end we chose not to go with that name because we would probably have gotten sued by a popular television channel but also because it sounded a bit fierce, a bit loaded. Chvrches was more universal, bigger sounding, more of a blank canvas, so that’s what we went for in the end. This t-shirt design is a tribute to the electronic pop outfit whose career was very short lived indeed. Just three short but sweet shows in their home territory.

Note: as a Black Friday / Cyber Monday spesh, we’re offering FREE SHIPPING for all North American customers – from now until Monday only!
