The next YBP t-shirt has arrived and it’s been designed by none other than Tunde Adebimpe of the Brooklyn-based band, TV on the Radio. All profits from the sale of this t-shirt will benefit Partners In Health, in an effort to raise money for Haiti relief. As you may recall, we supported this charity recently by auctioning off a hand-coloured Indie Rock Coloring Book via ebay!

The first print-run of t-shirts were generously donated by Alternative Apparel, and to make this t-shirt even more unique, we chose to print this colourful design on their ‘Destroyed’ tee. It’s super soft! And its collar, sleeve and bottom hems are grinded with a special machine to create a uniquely worn and deconstructed look.

In our top ten highlights of 2009, we listed The Indie Rock Coloring Book (IRCB) as our biggest proponent for change. The book has inspired people to color, both with each other and against each other! It has allowed us to spread the good word about YBP, all over the world. We’ve been able to put on events, such as The Indie Rock Coloring Book launch at the Housing Works Bookshop in NYC, which featured Elvis Perkins and Ra Ra Riot, and raised money to support low-income New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS. We’ve done our best to make a difference and inspire change.

Now, with this awful disaster which has stricken Haiti, we feel compelled to help. Andy J. Miller came to us with the idea of coloring in every single page of the book, to then have auctioned off as a sort of special limited edition collectors piece, with the funds from the winning bid going directly towards Haiti relief.

Here are a fews words from Andy J:

Coloring one of the books and auctioning it for Haiti was actually my wife’s idea! When we heard about the earthquake in Haiti it really moved us and we started coming up with ideas between us of how we could do our bit. I have put lots of time and effort into the coloring. It has been rewarding to finally color one of my books, and it felt even better to do it for a great reason. I’m sure you agree that this disaster in Haiti has been eye opening and truly heartbreaking. It is such an awful tragedy. I really encourage you to make a bid on this coloring book, and if you don’t win I hope you will donate to the cause anyway.
